COURSE OVERVIEW

Too often, disabled people don’t ask for adjustments — not because they don’t need them, but because they’re unsure what’s allowed or how to bring it up. This training makes things clearer. It helps participants explore what kind of support might help, how to talk about it, and how to follow up if things don’t go to plan.

The session is empowering without being overwhelming. Whether someone is entering work for the first time or navigating a current job, they’ll leave with tools and language to support clearer communication and better access at work.

Workplace Adjustments Training - Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our Workplace Adjustments Training below, and get in touch if you need further assistance!

Who is this training for?

This session is for disabled people who are either looking for work or already in employment and want to understand more about what workplace adjustments they can ask for.

It’s especially helpful for people who know they need support but aren’t sure how to start the conversation or what’s considered “reasonable.”

Whether you're just starting your career or have worked before, the training meets you where you are.

What if someone doesn’t identify as disabled?

That’s no problem at all.

If someone has a health condition, neurodivergence, or anything else that makes work more difficult, they’ll benefit from this training.

We take an inclusive approach and welcome anyone who might need support at work — even if they don’t use the word “disabled” to describe themselves.

Will participants need to speak in front of the group?

No. Participation is always optional and there’s no pressure to share anything personal. We create a supportive environment where people can contribute if they feel comfortable, but quiet reflection is just as valid. Everyone learns in different ways — and we respect that.

Can this be used with workplace staff groups?

Definitely.

It’s a valuable session for employee disability networks or for groups of staff who want to better understand their rights and feel more confident asking for support.

It’s especially useful in organisations that want to empower staff to be proactive about their needs.

Do participants get something to take away?

Yes.

Everyone receives a practical digital toolkit with a summary of their rights, sample adjustment requests, conversation planning tools, and example phrases they can adapt and use in real workplace settings.

Is it suitable for employability or supported employment settings?

Yes, absolutely. This training works well as part of wider employability, supported employment, or return-to-work services.

It adds value by focusing specifically on helping participants understand their rights, build confidence to speak up, and prepare for real workplace situations they may face.

Does it include legal rights?

Yes. We give a clear, practical overview of the Equality Act 2010 and what it means for employees or jobseekers. We also explain how to apply that knowledge in real conversations — so people leave knowing not just what their rights are, but how to act on them.

Can support workers or job coaches attend too?

Yes. We welcome support workers, carers, or job coaches where this helps someone get the most from the session.

They can assist with understanding the content, supporting participation, or helping the person use what they’ve learned after the session.

Just let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.

Can you adapt the content for different learning needs?

Yes. We’re happy to tailor the training to suit your group’s needs — whether that means adjusting the pace, simplifying the language, or including more visual or interactive elements.

We encourage organisers to share any access needs in advance so we can make the session as inclusive and effective as possible.

Who delivers the training?

The training is delivered by experienced facilitators who bring both lived and professional insight into disability, communication, and inclusive employment. They understand the real barriers people face — and how to build confidence in a supportive, down-to-earth way.
